Tuning in late, as usual, but ready to add my 2 cents...

I have had great success with Skippy's "Natural" label peanut butter (the original doesn't taste like peanuts, if you ask me). Smooth, with lovely texture & taste, it makes my favorite peanut butter cookie recipes something to rave about. Yummmm.

There's something to be said for "real" peanut butter-- the taste is so wonderful, there's no nasty corn syrups or artificial oils, plus you can get a mini workout by stirring the oil through-- but sometimes not-quite-natural is what makes the batter better.

Hey Tania,

How does the recipe compare? I'd be interested to see the differences.

Your cookies look like the ones I grew up eating -- except we always criss-crossed the fork marks!

I buy "all-natural" peanut butter and have been doing so for years, but I, too, discovered the hard way that you just can't use it for baking unless the recipe specifically calls for it. I recently bought a "healthy" baking book that includes a recipe for all-natural pb cookies, but even if they turn out good, they won't be quite like Mom's. Or yours. Sigh.
