Here’s some food for thought for today…
- McDonald’s speaks Italian. It’s either a jab at Slow Food founder Carlo Petrini, or one of those “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” kind of things, but McD’s hopes to jump on the local food wagon by offering up a couple of sandwiches that feature local produce and the flavours of the country at stores in Italy . Some are more impressed than others.
- Pass the chips – I knew all that fuss about acrylamides was bunk.
- Eggs are the new bacon, plus stevia, macarons, and Brussels sprouts. Coming food trends.
- Help Haiti, drink coffee.
- Wait, how can we be getting too many anti-oxidants if the amounts in the foods we’re eating are so minimal that we’d have to eat tons of the stuff to get *any* anti-oxidants in the first place? You ever have the thought that people are just making this shit up to sell us stuff or fill space?
- If you haven’t already boycotted Whole Foods because of CEO John MacKay’s lame-ass views on health care reform, please consider doing so now that the freak wants to offer employees discounts based on their health levels.
- 22 teaspoons a day. That’s how much sugar the average person eats. But is it really that bad?
- When was the last time you ate a Twinkie? (So where are we getting all that sugar from, anyway?) Re-branding the reputation of the symbol of what’s wrong with our food system.
- How do you eat peanut butter?
- Target sells sushi??? Yeah, scary. But the chain has stopped buying farm-raised salmon, so good on them.
