Here’s some food for thought for today…
- If the recommended sugar intake for an adult woman is 6 teaspoons a day and a can of Coke has 8, doesn’t that kind of screw you before you even start?
- Gardening is now “trendy”. But in this case, don’t let the idea of being “one of the herd” stop you.
- What you might want to watch for though, is getting ripped off on plugs or starter plants when you could be paying a lot less for seed.
- An argument against tipping.
- Huh… the guy who runs the Tupperware company comes off as kind of creepy and masochistic.
- “Culinary performers” (I’m keeping that one); an “idealized middle class femininity”; food preparation as sport; a lack of people of colour; and male hosts with a “hyper-masculine persona”. Tell me again why people like food television?
- Heey, yeah… we’ve got calorie counts at fast food outlets – why not movie cinema snack bars?
- Ever go shopping and find yourself faced with a wall of options? So many that you can’t decide? Too many choices, as laid out in a study with free samples of jam, might be less attractive to most people than not enough choices.
- You’ve heard of flash mobs – now there’s crop mobs, in which “landless farmers” or those who just like dirt, gather and descend on a local farm to help with stuff like weeding.
- Oh sweet jeebus – “foodies are the new artists” and the waves of gentrification are no longer marked by galleries but by hipster coffeehouses and locavore restaurants.

Oh my, what do I have to do to attract a crop mob to my 5,000 SF vegetable garden, cuz I sorely need some assistance!!!
