Here’s some food for thought for today…
- Kosher foods – not just for Jewish folks anymore.
- While it never hurts to keep some on hand for emergencies, there’s no reason to drink bottled water on a regular basis.
- In the US, people on food stamps can now use them almost anywhere, including farmers’ markets, which means unemployed hipsters with art school degrees are eating fine on the government’s dime. Does someone on food stamps have an obligation to be frugal?
- Toronto’s already got the Greenbelt, but other cities are just beginning to realize the importance of keeping the local foodshed for food and not sprawl.
- Just lick the crusty bits off, it will be fine. Restaurants in China have been told that it is illegal to charge for sanitized chopsticks, dishware and utensils.
- Ethical eating goes mainstream. A long as it doesn’t cost too much.
- Why does a salad cost more than a Big Mac? It’s the subsidies.
- What’s that? People who work in food factories are verbally and physically abused? That’s a surprise. NOT. You’ve got to figure that if we know the animals are being treated poorly, then the workers probably are as well.
- A primer on eating whale. With tips besides “don’t, it’s endangered!”
- Japanese robot waiter!!!
