Here’s some food for thought for today…
- Mobile greenhouse = good. Companies like Frito Lay cashing in on “farmwashing” techniques to pretend to be all “down on the farm” local = NO!
- Why food recalls often fail.
- The vegetarians, who will think of them? Why do dietary guidelines so rarely offer vegetarian or vegan options? (That’s a trick question, it’s because the lobby groups for the meat and dairy industries OWN those food guides.)
- Tom, Sue, Joe… do you make up a coffee name because the barista can’t pronounce/spell your real one?
- Finding the sweet spot between green and putrid – the science of ageing beef.
- Authorities in England have been trying to get people to eat squirrel for years (the country is overrun with them). Now that someone is selling the meat for home cooking, the animal rights folks are on the warpath.
- The no-brainer contest of the year – wild versus tame blueberries.
- Hocus pocus! Abracadbra! Why protecting bats is an important factor in ensuring food security.
- What long-term effect will the gulf oil spill have on family recipes?
- Is there no food that can’t be put on a stick? Or is Irish stew on a stick as far as we can take this crazy State fair food thing?
